Benefits
In keeping with its mission, MetaVista has developed a suite
of benefits to help its associates maximize their return from
their working hours. The most important benefit we offer is flexibility.
Every associate is encouraged to define the elements of their
compensation, including net pay and various pre and post tax
benefits that are best for them.
Health Insurance
MetaVista offers two group plans to eligible employees: Kaiser
and Blue Shield. Within those plans we offer co-pay plans, deductible
plans, and high-deductible with Health Savings Accounts plans.
MetaVista pays a share of health insurance costs, and has a Premium
Only Plan to facilitate pre-tax payment of employee shares of
health insurance premiums. Currently our Kaiser plan includes
a Dental Plan, but the Blue Shield plans do not. MetaVista may
also make contributions to individual health plans, and depending
on circumstances, these contributions may be pre-tax benefits
to the associate. This is an important example of flexibility,
especially for those associates who may work with multiple contracts
and contractors, or employees who do not meet the eligibility
requirements for our group plans.
Disability Insurance
MetaVista carries Workers Compensation to cover all employees while working for
us. In addition, all full-time employees are provided Disability Insurance.
Our Disability Insurance plan is a supplement to our Workers Compensation insurance,
and pays 60% of regular salary if an eligible employee is disabled whether
on the job or not. It also covers most illnesses. Our plan requires a 90-day
wait period, and then provides benefits for five years.
Continuing Professional Education
MetaVista believes that in order to provide top quality consulting services,
our associates must stay current in their profession. The firm provides reimbursement
of professional dues and for professional meetings to all employees to help
encourage participation. MetaVista will also help associates to define and
complete education plans by structuring compensation to maximize pre-tax payments
for professional education.
Retirement Savings
MetaVista offers all employees the opportunity to participate in its SIMPLE IRA
plan. Our plan is very flexible, allowing employees to make salary deferrals
and changes to their salary deferrals at any pay cycle. The firm contributes
up to 3 percent of gross salary for all participants, in accordance with IRS
regulations. Participants are welcome to use whichever broker or other authorized
IRA administrator they choose, and by definition, all contributions are immediately
100 percent vested in the name of the participant. The SIMPLE IRA plan is a
powerful way to save in a tax free account. The plan allows employees to defer
up to $10,500 per year pre-tax, and if older than 50, an additional $2,500
per year. Of course, as in all IRAs, there are substantial penalties for early
withdrawal.
Direct Deposit
MetaVista offers employees the option of receiving their pay checks via direct
deposit, which may allow them the opportunity to reduce fees at their bank,
but certainly is more convenient. Or employees may elect to receive regular
checks drawn on the firm’s bank account.
Non-exclusive Relationships
MetaVista does not require any associate to maintain an exclusive relationship
with MetaVista. Our philosophy is that as a firm we must earn the loyalty of
our associates every day. A coercive requirement for an exclusive relationship
tends to obscure whether or not we are doing our best to provide the compensation
and benefits that our associates deserve. Consequently, our sub-contractors
and employees may have contracting and employment relationships with other
firms without jeopardizing their good standing at MetaVista. We do take special
care to ensure that potential conflicts of interest are examined and mitigated
as necessary. In our business environment, we believe that the ability to draw
on contractors and part-time employees improves our ability to bring the best
talent, skills and creativity to our clients. MetaVista gains immeasurably
by offering the flexibility of non-exclusive relationships to our associates.
